Norway is unique in that it is one of the most responsible countries that has made large wealth in oil, and have used this money to fund many social services, with the entire country benefiting immensely. It is the winner of the European Green Capital Award for 2019 due to this partially, and its commitment to restoring its waterway network, as well as its goal to be carbon neutral by 2050. The city also aims to create a circular economy, and biogas coming from city sewage and bio-waste is used to power buses and waste trucks. With more and more measures by cities to switch to an electric vehicle and low carbon footprint blueprint comes greater sustainability, and hopefully these measures will extend to entire countries and expand throughout the globe.
The farm pictured below is Losæter, an amazing art and garden community space, which shows the immense benefits of community coming together through urban gardening. Not only does this space allow people to interact with the Earth and soil beautifully, but it allows them to come together and share experiences.
